Hidden

At the bottom of the page at home there is the thing that tells you whos online. It also says if they are a guest or a member but there is a "hidden" one. What does this mean?

Even though, i don't really know wut it means, or anything and I shoudn't be saying anything. I wanna take a guess and say ... It's probably when u try to log in and theres like a little box with words saying check here if you wanna go in as hidden so no one knows who you are.

I have a feeling your right. Nobody has really tried using the hidden option yet, and i dotn know why they would.

Generally people only spam when moderators aren't on so moderators use this option to spy on other people to see if they are spamming without them knowing.

can regular members do that too ?

why dont you test it to find out..? Then youll have your answer, cause i cant help you there. (Im a mod )

Ok, guys I have found the answer. When I press profile right.. [well this is how I found out.] Under the ads above the page. It said Preferences I clicked it.... and like it said somethin like Do you want to be hidden and there is 2 check box's you check the yes one.. you press save or ok or.. wuteva it said. and then well. u become hidden.

I dont know why a member would do this, but I will do it. Sometimes to caught spammers.

On other forums they spy on spammers, just like you said.
Anyone can do it as far as I know because I have a forum on forum-motion also.

To put it simply. All users can remain hidden. Administrators and Moderators usually do this to spy or watch users without them knowing that they are around. I know I'm probably repeating something already said so you can lock this now if you want.

if members can do it, if theyve been bad they can spy on the forums using hidden. I dotn know if members should have the priveledge, but if someones hidden at the time of the spam or whatever, its kinda obvious so whatever. lol

It wouldn't matter if they are hidden or not because if someone is hidden and they make a post it still shows up even though it doesn't say they're online. It just hides their online status so you can still ban spammers even if they are hidden.

Not my point. My point is they can spy on the forums as if they aren't online, and NOT post, just watch. But its nto a big deal. Still able to bann.

Simple way to fix this. Admins can see hidden users and in the admin panel theres an option to let moderators see hidden users.
